Finding success is sometimes about stopping and looking at something you’ve let pass you by.
There are things in your life you wish you would do, or see, or experience. Most of us will never do them.
On this day, I did.
I’ve passed by Bayside Marina hundreds of times coming back to Connecticut from visiting relatives on Long Island. It always looked like a great place, with the walking trail right next to it. I would see many joggers, walkers, cyclists, people on roller blades. And I imagined the beach below would be really cool also. But I never stopped.
I already decided this year would be one in which I took advantage of the difficulties and hard work that were part of 2016.
So I parked the car, got out, climbed down the rocks and stood for a moment admiring the sunset.
And of course, making this video!
The sky was mostly dark at that point. But the lights from the highway and the Throgs Neck Bridge off in the distance gave it a really cool glow.
And even more so, all the stuff that was built in this natural setting told me something important…
Anything is possible.
People decided they wanted access to that piece of land, and everything that sprawled out from that island.
So they built bridges to get to it.
And they built roads to move into it.
And they built that marina, and that jogging path.
And hundreds of thousands of people took advantage.
What’s going to happen when you add to the “natural environment” you were given?
What’s going to happen when you work with others to make improvements, to your life, and theirs?
Finding success is possible.
Don’t let your dreams pass you by because you’re stuck in habits. Don’t wait for anyone’s permission to do the things you want to do. Your life is yours, and it’s the only one you get.
What is one thing you’ve wanted to do, or see, or experience and haven’t done yet?
What’s your plan to do it in 2017?
