Well, if you’ve been sticking around the goings on at NMHB, you know it’s been all about the soon to launch T3 Method: Total Transition Training.
Two weeks from now, many people are going to make it their mission to lose weight.
.Some even call is a “resolution” of some sort. 😉
And many of them will start with beating themselves up for all the overeating they did in the weeks leading up to January. They’ll grit their teeth, dig in and pass by the Christmas leftovers in the fridge. They may even get that gym membership…or use the one they’ve had for the past couple of years (as soon as they remember how to get to the gym).
That would be fine, if there wasn’t a 6000 percent failure rate on that kind of New Year’s Resolution.
Anyone up for trying something that is sure to work better…and be a lot more fun?
Here’s one solution.
Physiologically, it’s a really good idea to laugh. Endorphins, the happy, joyful painkiller chemicals get released when you laugh. Those by themselves are worth the price of admission!
There have also been many studies that show laughter boosts the immune system and is excellent for the cardiovascular system.
But laughter also releases tension. And if you scroll up a few paragraphs, you’ll see that many people are holding a LOT of tension around their weight and health.
Let’s take that a step further. Excess weight is often held as a defense against other things. Physical ailments, mental, emotional and spiritual pain. Our bodies are ingenious in the way they protect themselves.
Except when they aren’t. When it’s time to fix the problem, rather than protect with something that makes us feel badly and hurts our quality of life…like obesity.
When we laugh, we release pain. We find release from tension. We often share our laughter with others, so we create friendships and bonding.
Laughter opens up the doors to healing, to bravery, to courage.
To facing the things that hurt. In our bodies, or our spirits, or our relationships, or our checking accounts…wherever the pain is.
And making them better. And making ourselves better.
Because gosh darn it…you are worth it!
Will laughing more solve all our weight loss issues? Of course not.
But it will make it that much easier to walk to path to solving them in the smart ways we already know work.
And we’ll enjoy the journey that much more.
And usually take it together.
Scroll up to the top of this post. There’s a good start on your laughing journey!
