How To Be You In Three Simple Steps

Seems simple enough. I mean…who else would you be?

.
But as I was doing a hangout with Diane, it occurred to me how hard that is for so many people.
.
Here’s what happened: Diane’s birthday is this week. So as a “celebration,” we dropped a special offer for hour long consultations, each with our own specialty.
.
Diane can look at your marketing, find the holes and help you fix them so you turn into a profit machine.
.
I can find your mental and emotional blocks and help you bust through them…pretty darn quickly.
.
We both have our strengths.
.
But Diane is the more demonstrative personality. She always has been. That’s not to say I’m a shrinking violet. I’m certainly not!
.
But I have my own style, which as often as not comes off as quiet and serene.
.
We compliment each other well. But truth be told, she is much better known to the public.
.

So someone will look at her and say, “I gotta be like that to score.”

.
Well, no you don’t.
.

You gotta be like you.

.
I can gently look you in the eye, tell you what you need to hear and have you walk away feeling good.
.
I’m proud of that.
.
It took a while to be myself.
.
To not be embarrassed about having my own style. To not have to be the life of the party.
.
To fully embrace one of my main philosophies…
.
I’m not worried about being the first one in. I’m more interested in being the last one standing.
.
When I finally did, I attracted the right people. 
.
I also repulsed the right people. As in, the ones who didn’t belong with me.
.
Hey, I’m not for everyone.
.
Neither are you.
.
But if you’re you, the right ones show up…ready to exchange energy, as in pay you for your time, energy and stuff.
.

So how to be you, in three simple steps…

.
1. Realize the value of being you. Because you love, honor and respect yourself…warts and all.
.
2. Let go of the need to be someone else. To compare yourself to others and constantly come up short.
.
3. Build on the gifts you’ve been given. Develop your strengths. Your skills. Your ability to see the gifts and others. To be open and accessible.
.
And then watch people celebrate the magnificence that is you!
.

Moon Shots And Mayhem

I’m working on this post a little after 8:00 am on Sunday morning.

And I keep getting interrupted by a man who is one of my 4300 closest friends on Facebook (meaning I don’t know him).

He asked me how my weekend was. Then he asked how my Internet business is going.

I told him the truth, which is that I don’t have an “Internet business.” I have a several business interests, which I promote both online and offline.

Then he asked me if I heard of a new company, which I’ll assume is a network marketing firm.  He told me he just heard about it this past week.

That’s code for “I’m about to pitch a total stranger who I awkwardly introduced myself to about five minutes ago. My posture is weak and I just admitted I know very little about what I’m going to pitch you on.”

Desperate people throwing up a “Hail Mary” pass thinking if they do it often enough they’ll make something good happen.

If you do that kind of thing often enough something will happen…that’s for sure.

You will lose all credibility you have with everyone, including yourself.

You’ll feel inadequate, which will eventually cross over to the other parts of your life that are working well. That includes whatever other career you have.

(By the way, that conversation just died out. He didn’t know where to go next because I didn’t ask him about his new company. If I had he would have sent me a link, with an invitation to “take a look.” If he was  really bold he would have a set a follow up appointment.)

I like taking risks. Just as long as I’ve gotten myself as ready as I possibly can.

And I like to come from a position of strength and confidence.

That doesn’t mean I have to know everything.

It DOES mean I have to be excited. And I have to have no fear of losing. Just the excitement of winning.

And knowing that even if I don’t my desired outcome right away, I’m in love with the process.

That’s what I spent yesterday doing.

.

MAYHEM.

.

I shot four lower body workout with Chris Marinelli, our Certified Personal Trainer in residence at the T3 Method. Also answered a bunch of emails and notes from clients,

And  I also surprised a friend of mine by including her in a training video when she least expected it.

The day had an element of MAYHEM to it.

The energy of fun, of all kinds of good things coming at me lightning quick.

And the sense that even though they were overwhelming, I could handle them.

And if something dropped, I could either pick it up or move onto the next thing.

.

The knowledge I am unlimited. What I don’t know, I’ll figure out as I go along.

.

Because I am good enough to learn.

And I deserve all the good stuff that’s lining up for me.

And I deserve to put down the screw up’s from the past.

And live in the present.

Not grovel in front of strangers begging for their attention.

Organizing the mayhem into a life of giving and receiving.

Purpose.

Profit.

Abundance.

Fun.

Meaning.

Not everyone is ready for that. They don’t trust themselves enough to let all that great stuff in. We all have our self imposed limits.

That’s fine. We’re always growing and changing.

I just want you to stop being a prisoner to your past. And doing the same old thing over and over again, knowing in the
back of your head it won’t work…but being afraid to reach for something terrifying and wonderful at the same time.

The Lie Of “Staying The Course”

There’s a thing going around…

 .
It’s a myth that says “staying the course” will get you  to the promised land. In fact one of my good friends  and coaching clients told me the reason he just broke through to my new level of success in his business is because of “staying the course.”

.
Great story. Also untrue.
.
Now before I get hostility notes, let me qualify that.

.

Having the maturity to stick with a tried and true path  is necessary for success anywhere. Business, weight loss, relationships… The whole shooting match.
.

Problem is, most people staying the course are on the wrong course.

.
But they’ve convinced themselves they’re on the right course.
.
Here’s a hint: if your course feels comfortable every step of the way, not challenging, lulling you to sleep…
.
Or if it feels vaguely unsatisfying, vanilla, bland…
.
It might have been the right course at one point.
.
But it’s the wrong one now.
.
And if you look around at what most people who have the same invitation as you are doing, you’ll find them cheering, routing, hollering…
.

And not making any real progress towards what they want…or say they want.

.
And that’s okay. There’s usually a small percentage who become pinnacle leaders in their chosen field. Everyone else feeds and supports the tribe.
.
And again that’s not a bad thing. Everyone contributes in their own way. Everyone has value.
.
I would just rather save you the time and energy of engaging in the self-deception or staying the course of something whose shelf life expired a long time ago.
.
My client elevated his game because he stayed the course long enough to find the missing ingredient in what he was doing.
 .
And rather than staying on the same old course, he rose to the challenge.
 .
And that’s where most people are unwilling – not unable, but unwilling – to do…something different.
 .
This is what I’m teaching in about an hour to the T3 Method Community.  It’s the second step in the precise
method to losing weight and getting healthier.
 .
And it’s not “staying the course.”

It keeps you locked in where you are, which is often making them money and feeding their dreams.
 .
Good for them. Not so good for you.

How To Keep Your New Year’s Resolution

It’s December 2.

You are approximately 30 days from making your New Year’s Resolution(s).

And I’ll tell you what you already know…

.

.

.

.

There is approximately a 97% chance you’re not going to keep it.

.

Sure, you’ll stay strong for two weeks or so. If it’s weight loss, you’ll do the whole portion control thing for a little while.

Or you’ll eat a little cleaner.

Or you’ll hit the gym a few times.

And then your programming will take over.

.

Your NARRATIVE – the story you’ve been telling yourself about yourself – will stop you dead in your tracks.

.

That story is a little different for everyone, but basically, it’s this…

I’m not important enough.

I’m not strong enough.

I’m not good enough.

I’m not enough enough.

And no matter how badly you want the change, the weight loss, the muscles, the money, the love of your life…

Your self-talk stops you dead in your tracks.

So here’s a thought…

Why not take the next month, especially around (what’s supposed to be) the most joyous month of the year..

And make a committed effort to change the things you say to yourself.

Because you are important enough.

You are strong enough.

You are good enough.

You are enough enough.

You are whole, and worthy of finding the community, the method, the mentor, the system to get what you want.

And you are worthy of screening out the voices of people – alive or dead – who tell you otherwise.

And you are worthy of seeing your mistakes as learning experiences, not as character flaws.

Take the next month and do some research. Find the way or ways to get what you desire.

Make some plans. You don’t have to execute them yet.

But mostly, bombard yourself with love.

Give it to others, and invite it in return.

If You Could Live Anywhere In The World

I like to fantasize as much as the next guy.

That’s not true. I like to fantasize a lot more than most people I know.

So I just saw a question online… If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?

You would think that would be easy and fun one to play with. But really, not as much as you think.

Here’s the thing…anywhere that you want to live means you have to be the person who matches the environment.

And as cool as it seems to detach from all the other things, my personal brand of fantasizing needs to have context to it.

So if I say I want to live in Key West, my next question will be where? Condo? Villa? Apartment? Mansion?

And then my brain will go to, how will I maintain the lifestyle folks have in Key West?

Which of course leads to who must they become to maintain that lifestyle? I just have a really hard time plopping myself down in the middle of an environment without the consciousness to be there.

Sure, it’s a bit of a buzz kill as far as indulging in the fantasy.

But at the same time it’s exactly the type of imagination that turns things from fantasy into reality.

And that really means what I don’t do is fantasize.

I vision.

A fantasy allows you to detach from any possible reality. It’s a fragmented little dreamscape. It’s escapism.

And there’s nothing wrong with a little escapism. It’s a nice little stress reducer. It’s what folks do when they sit around the Thanksgiving table, dividing up their lottery winnings among the extended family.

It’s cool, so long as you don’t actually believe that’s how your life is going to turn out.

A vision is what an architect does. They play with a the big picture of something. But then they go about creating the infrastructure to make it happen. They make sure it’s on a firm foundation. And that there’s proper access to water, and electricity. And they make sure the proper permits are in place, so the structure is in line with the norms of everything else that’s around it.

Then they build it carefully, to last forever. Or at least as long as they plan on staying.

It reminds me of an early network marketing training I attended…this was twelve or so years ago. The trainer went around the room and had people say where they wanted to wind up in this particular company’s pay plan.

All of them, except for one said they wanted to be at the very top.

At the time, there were 15 people in the company, out of more than a million who were at this level.

The only one who didn’t? Yeah…that was me.

Not because I didn’t want to make a lot of money. I did.

And not because I didn’t think I could grow into the skills and consciousness that would create it.

I just wasn’t willing to make the two hundred percent commitment I knew it took to get to that level. I knew other things were a-callin’.

And yes, I also saw the road littered with the dead bodies of those who said they wanted it all.

But I digress. Back to the “if you could live anywhere” question…

Yes, you can live anywhere you want. There’s no such thing as can’t.

But having the awareness and consciousness to do it- and the habits – that’s another story.

Because the villa in France is populated with people who come from old money. It’s handed down from generation to generation.

And with people who crack the code…not only of creating a major leveraged income, but of taking on the consciousness to keep it.

They know how to manage that kind of fortune. They know how to staff their villa, and to hire the right people to supervise the staff. And the right accountants and auditors to make sure the people they hired are doing their jobs.

And they know enough about it themselves to ask the right questions and look for the right answers.

You get the idea.

Sorry…didn’t mean to rain on your parade.

If you could live anywhere in the world, how would you want to live?

Who would you want to be?

And then yeah…where would you do it?
