Here’s a secret for you…
A lot of success people experience is created in the summer.
I know what I’m talking about!
From 1994 to 2000, I was principal of a high school summer school.
For five weeks in July and August, we had about 300 students who had failed something during the school year (except for the driver’s education kids).
You would think they were miserable, but truthfully, most of them were OK with being there. Many of their friends were there, the teachers were usually more mellow than the ones they had during the school year, probably a few other reasons.
And maybe the biggest reason…there was a change of environment.
Most of the kids in summer school got so tired of the grind, that anything new was a welcome change.
So each summer, we had a pass rate of about 85 percent. That was actually higher than the regular school year!
Think you can learn anything from that?
OK, in the 15 or so years I’ve been training and coaching in home business, health and relationships, I keep seeing the same thing over and over again…
People check out in the summer time and during December.
Then they try and pick it back up. But they’ve lost their momentum, and many of the skills they picked up along the way.
And they wonder why year after year they’re trying to break through to the success the “big guys” have.
It’s simple. The “big guys” were committed.
They wanted it badly enough that when everyone else was lounging by the pool with a cold one, they were learning, studying and implementing.
And just like summer school there was a whole different vibe around the learning. A lot of people let go of the pressure to perform. They just decided this was it, and they stopped feeding whatever resistance they had to success.
And every once in a while they got scared enough to dig in and do the work. They saw what was ahead of them, and they didn’t like it.
So they changed.
So, the three secrets to summertime success.
It’s pretty simple…
1. Decide you and your dreams are worth putting in the time. There’s nothing sacred about the summer. It’s what everyone else does.
You aren’t everyone else.
2. Get a vision of a successful (insert your name here).
Most people have the fantasy of success. But they don’t really see it. They’ll imagine a great house and hot car and paid off bills. But when they get close to it, their self-image won’t let it happen. So they go for the news about Caitlin Jenner, or whatever gossip is on the Internet that day. Or pictures of cute animals that has nothing to do with their success.
Again, that’s not you.
3. Surround yourself with people who are moving in your direction.
In summer school, it was three absences and you’re out. We didn’t have time for people who weren’t showing up. We lost most of our failures in the first week. Anyone who stayed pretty much decided to buckle down and pass the course. And that was the culture we created.
When you work for real during the summer, you’ll be working alongside people who take their goals seriously enough to focus in when everyone else checks out. The rules of the game change. And you change right along with them.
Success finds you in the middle of dance floor!
If you’re for real, decide how you want to spend the next couple of months. More of whatever made you want something different in the first place…
Or something HOT!

I’m running a special summer school for people who are ready for something different and awesome.
Where you are now…what you’ve done or haven’t done…that doesn’t matter.
The only thing that does matter is DESIRE.
