Growing up, David-Dorian Ross didn’t see himself as a world class athlete. And yet he became a seven time national champion in Tai Chi, and a medalist at the world games.
So when he told me it seems like I was a natural athlete growing up, always comfortable and successful in athletics, I had to laugh.
Because I was anything but.
Last to get picked for kickball and dodgeball.
Always afraid to swing the bat in Little League.
Afraid to try. Content to be watch other people succeed.
Then a few magical things happened.
I got a sense of what was possible for me.
I got good and dissatisfied with what I’d been living.
I found a mentor…someone I wanted to be like, who had skills I wanted and was willing to share them.
My desire for success became stronger than my fear of failure.
The rest, as they say..is history!
